POWEL AUTOMATION LTD., have, for some time, been aware of the demand for a lower cost constant velocity concrete roof tile extrusion machine that would retain the high quality of engineering and performance of our more expensive plant - hence the development of the type M04.

It could be said that the M04 was created by our customers as many of their requests and observations have been incorporated into the design and with many years experience in the roof tile industry we also felt qualified to add a little of our own knowledge to its development.

Pallet infeed and extrusion head tracking are tungsten carbide, prolonging the life of both pallets and wearing parts. Several characteristics designed to give added protection include a system of limit switches that detect the presence and attitude of the pallets as they enter the machine.

The extrusion head of the machine can be simply removed when changing to another tile profile or for maintenance purposes. The roller within the extrusion head is driven by a variable speed unit through a universal shaft and the complete assembly is protected by a torque limiting safety device.

After extrusion the tiles are cut to length by a pneumatically operated travelling knife assembly. The complete assembly reciprocates on linear shafts and bearings which are continually lubricated during operation. Some of the features built into the knife end of the machine include tungsten carbide scrapers to remove excess concrete from the pallet sides and a water spray unit to wash the knife after every cutting sequence.

Technical Specifications

Output: 25 - 100 tiles per minute (giving potential for steady growth rate).
Main Drive: 11kW - 18kW (to suit machine output) through 6000Nm helical bevel gearbox.
Roller Drive: 11kW - 18kW (to suit machine output). Variable speed drive, universal shaft & quick release coupling.
Knife Assembly: Driven directly from the machine main shaft. Pneumatically operated vertical knife. Air requirement - 5.25cfm (2.47Litres/sec) at 70 tiles per minute.
Tile Design: Double Roman, Bold Roll, Double Pantile, Flat Low Pitch etc. Coverage approximately 10 tiles per square metre (90 per 100 square feet).
